Jean Young
Instrument: Piano and Music Theory
Jean Young is a seasoned piano instructor
who has taught at Stanroy Music Center since 1986. She welcomes
students at all levels and ages and has current openings for children and
adults. Lessons focus mainly on music reading, ear training, and
technique. She believes this extends itself to other instruments and
choral reading. Each student is special and she teaches to the needs
and learning level of the student. She also welcomes choir or chorus
members as students with a desire to improve interval sight-reading.
She uses the piano as a tool to hear and learn interval pitches.
Improvement is guaranteed.
As a full-time professional music teacher, Jean is patient and takes
great pride in her teaching. She is successful in teaching students
with learning disabilities and works well with hectic student schedules.
As a former classroom (K-5) teacher for many years, Jean states that all
1st graders should have an experience with the piano - for coordination and
focus. She also believes that adults really enjoy learning piano too,
once they convince themselves to sign up and get started.
Jean has her B.S. in Music Education and is a certified music instructor
in California, Florida, New York and Georgia. She majored in voice and
piano, and minored in violin, clarinet and trumpet.
