Bill Decker

Bill Decker has been teaching professionally since 1984 and has taught
90 to 100 students per week at Stanroy Music Center since
1988. He has given well over
75,000 individual guitar lessons, making him one of the most experienced teachers in northern California.
Bill Decker has been playing guitar since 1968, started performing in
1972, and has opened for national acts such as
Metallica, performing with Stone Crow, to Johnny Otis performing with the
Decker Brother Blues Band. Also performed live for Al and
Jamie Hendrix (Jimi Hendrix’s father and sister) in the
Hendrix Fender Guitar Competition, and has recorded numerous jingles for local advertising commercials.
His influences include Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eric Johnson, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Al Dimeola, Allen Holdsworth and everything else he hears.
Bill Decker is the author of the guitar book Scales & Modes For Guitar published in
1999. He currently performs in the band “Ratpack” playing Classic Rock Songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.
